Oh, yeah, Jodie Foster was definitely the highlight. I just remember seeing it somewhat recently and being like, "!! That is MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY!" I guess it's all about the guys when it comes to watching movies. Hehe

1. Alien. In terms of cinematography and editing, it's STILL the one to beat.
2. Metropolis (restored; original orchestral score). The first science fiction epic and the best science fiction epic.
3. Galaxy Quest. A rollicking adventure, a rollicking comedy, and a gentle dig at fandom, all rolled into one.
4. Star Wars. THE Star Wars. Two suns setting over Tatooine: best sci-fi film moment EVER.
5. The Empire Strikes Back. EPIC. And they ended it on a low note. Now that took GUTS.
6. The Fifth Element. Almost too much-- a magnificent wallow in action and style. And blonde Bruce Willis does a great Bogart.
7. Pitch Black. "Lord Jim"-- in SPACE.
8. The Thing From Another World. The original. Cold War paranoia takes a spot-on other-worldly twist.
9. Aliens. "GET AWAY FROM HER, YOU B[/li][li]TCH." Mother love at its finest. Need we say more...?
10. The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. If you haven't seen this one, don't worry: no one has seen this one. But that's no excuse. FIND IT. A dimwitted nod to all those zero-budget sci-fi films of the fifties, and funnier than hell.

Fifth Element! I absolutely luv that movie. It never gets stale for me! Pitch Black was awesome, too. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the ending of it. I'll still watch it again, though. I have the tape somewhere around here...

I guess it's all about the guys when it comes to watching movies. Hehe HAHA, no, it wasn't like that at all. I was just struck by the fact that I recognized him and I hadn't at any other previous time. Also, I am totally in love with The Fifth Element. I saw it for the first time a loooooong time ago when I was sick from school one day and it was on a movie channel. I find that the films I know from a long time ago are still favorites, no matter how terrible they may actually be.

The Fifth Element is on TV a lot so I can't help but to watch it every now and then. Bruce Willis seems to be immature in every movie he's been in (i.e. The Fifth Element, Armaggedon, Die Hard, etc.). I like it though. The leading lady pulled off the alien accent really well.

Contact! I love Contact. The book is brilliant, too... I didn't list Star Wars because... well, I'm a total Star Wars saddo. I've got original 70s SW toys on display in my livingroom...

I'm so old...
... how old is she...?
... that I saw "Star Wars" in a theatre-- on its original theatrical run--
-- TWENTY-SEVEN TIMES.
That was back when the "Hardware Wars" tagline-- "You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss three bucks goodbye"-- was only half-true, for matinees were as low as $1.25. They'd just invented fire, too. POPCORN. POPCORN GOOD--!

- Matrix
- Dune (Both versions)
- Solaris (Loved the feel of the movie, the soundtrack had a lot to do with it - and ok, maybe having George Clooney in it, didn't hurt much either)
- Stargate
- Alien
- Contact
- Star Trek (All the movies - old and most recent)
- 28 Days Later (!!!)
- Planet of the Apes (The whole original series of movies)
- The Abyss
(Oh and I find the Cube movies [Cube, Cube 2 and Cube 0] to be strangely intriguing, as well.)
