But the way I look at it now... Trey would probably be too drugged to get up and do anything, like what Capa said. Because to walk from Medical Bay to where the knife is (which I remember Mace took like 2 turns) and to the Earth Room, does not make any sense... plus how did Trey knows that Harvey and Searle died? I mean, I seriously doubt if anyone told him... Maybe Pinbacker did killed him and pose as a suicide because of Trey's guilty nature? Am I making any sense here?

It's a rare thing, but sure I understand you, Mel. Then again, Trey heard about Mace's plan to make a semi-impossible airlock jump so that could have easily triggered his suicide.

They did show Trey eavesdropping on Cassie and Corazon right outside the flight deck when they realized the payload isn't operational. This would effectively prove to him that the decision to find Icarus I was pointless, and losing Kaneda and the oxygen garden due to his forgetting to realign the shields was for nothing. Pretty good reasons for suicide, I think. Would also show that he is capable of walking and conscious enough to understand the implications of what he heard. That scene took place right before the ships were decoupled, so plot-wise, it also serves to potentially implicate Trey as the one who undocked the ships (before anyone knows Pinbacker is on board). But about the blood... Thinking back , there was some blood splattered on the walls around Trey in the Earth room, not just pooling under him. Maybe that's signs of a struggle. Can blood spray that far if he cut his wrists? Was he trying to touch the birds?

But about the blood... Thinking back , there was some blood splattered on the walls around Trey in the Earth room, not just pooling under him. Maybe that's signs of a struggle. Can blood spray that far if he cut his wrists? Was he trying to touch the birds? Oh yes... I remember that scene now (thanks for reminding me)... Somehow deep inside me, I still feel like he wont kill himself. Sure he's guilty and all that, but he wont result to suicide. I always think his mindset is like "I f--ked up and I know it. It's all my fault but I'm not going to do something stupid to make it worse." sort-of like he's guilty but there's still some reasoning inside him. My idea of the scene is.... Trey eavesdrop on Corazon and Cassie. He feels guilty again. He goes back to the Earth Room with the birds and everything. Meanwhile, Pinbacker had already decouples the ships manually and make his way around the ship. He's there to ruin the mission so he finds the weapons and think "Hey, this ought to be useful. I better take 2, just in case." He finds Trey who is in the Earth Room and kill him. Thanks to the drugs, Trey wont have much strength during the struggle. (Meanwhile, blood's spraying everywhere.) After killing him, he pulls him to a sitting position against the wall and leaves him. Pinbacker might feel "Gosh, that's exhausting, I'll look at the sun to recuperate." BTW, I'd like to point out something. When Capa find Pinbacker in the Observation Room. Pinbacker slashes Capa. If you look at the blood in the Earth Room (not the one on the floor, but on the walls), it's a line. So if Pinbacker's the one killing Trey, most probably he attacked the same way, therefore resulting in the blood sprayed in a line on the walls. If Trey's only trying to touch the birds after he slit his wrists, the blood would be smudged rather than the "sprayed" effect.

I just got back from my second viewing, and I thought for sure this time that Pinbacker did not position Corazon. Maybe she survived long enough to crawl toward the plant, pick it up, sit upright in her lotus position and pass away while propped up like that? I just don't see Pinbacker, who is nuttier than squirrel poo and on his way to kill off the rest of the crew, taking the time to position her.

You guys are going to love the DVD commentaries - I've now watched both Danny's and Brian Cox's and they both talk about this scene differently! I watched Brian's first (of course ) and he talks about when we first saw the finished film with Benny. When the film was being shot Benny, rightly, assumed that Pinbacker had killed Trey as that's how it is in the script. After he saw the film, however, he changed his mind. *Now* Benny thinks he killed himself... Then I watched Danny's commentary and he talks about Pinbacker killing Trey... and he hasn't changed his mind about it... No mention of 'the father' though

I still think Trey killed himself. If Benny thinks so, it's a done deal for me.

Oh my god, I got it wrong. I'm seeing Kali everywhere! Argh! It's those damn (no, not really) Capsie fanfics! Argh! Anyway, I apologize. I meant Neiru's argument.
