Good point, Hugh! I think Pinbacker confused Trey with Cassie, too.

Yeah, Pinbacker grabbed Trey's body and then Cassie ran up and stabbed him.

(hello there, everyone! I've finally watched Sunshine!) I think Trey killed himself... with the guilt and everything. Plus (like it was mentioned before), Pinbacker wouldnt care to make it look like it's a suicide (he's too "over" to think anyways..) I was quite confused with Corazon's (or should I say Cory's) sitting position... how can she sit up so straight when she's dead? Why would Pinbacker bother adjusting her?

I think Pinbacker wanted to emphasize that any glimmer of hope is useless to latch onto (i.e. the small plant above the ashes that he happened to place in Cori's hands).... or he just has a sick sense of humor.
Am I making sense? *sigh*

I think he positioned her as a sign of sympathy? I also think he positioned his Icarus 1 crew mates in the Observatory.

Am I making sense? *sigh* lol.. you are... I'm thinking he has a sick sense of humor.... he's a bit too "cuckoo" to be thinking things clearly... I think he positioned her as a sign of sympathy? I also think he positioned his Icarus 1 crew mates in the Observatory. You mean he killed the other crew mates then position them to let them be toasted? I'm sooooo confused right now...

You mean he killed the other crew mates then position them to let them be toasted? I'm sooooo confused right now... I'm thinking that the Icarus 1 crew got so obsessed with the Sun that they fried themselves in the Observatory. They could have also done that because Pinbacker could have been the one who sabotaged the spaceship. This would make the crew hopeless and therefore willing to die. I don't know why Pinbacker would have lived. Then again, as captain, I think he would have known that another spaceship would have gone to complete the mission. Maybe he survived hoping that the next team would come to him? Pinbacker would therefore sabotage their spaceship to make sure they fail. Anyways, on to your question, Pinbacker would have let his crew mates kill themselves (via frying) and would have positioned them afterwards. This is just my guess! Their positions mean something also... Corazon was positioned like this anyways. It's called the Lotus position. Very interesting!

Isn't it too early for Pinbacker to know there's gonna be another spaceship? It's been missing for 7 years and without contact and everything... hm.... but *if* the Icarus I crew are positioned after they are fried, wouldnt they like crush if pinbacker touch them? the same way searle (is it?) touch them... About the lotus position (I was thinking of a yoga position earlier), *if* Pinbacker was the one who positioned her, how is it that he positioned her in a hinduism-buddism related posture? I agree... Pinbacker (I love how you use this for him, brittany!) is a VERY interesting character... I wonder if there's a backstory for him... *winking at Gia*

I still think that Pinbacker maybe either picked his crew off one by one and then positioned them in the observatory and roasted them, or they were in there and he sabotaged the filter and they fried that way. I think he was the most tapped out of his crew, and considering he says to Capa that he wanted to be the only man, alone with God at the end of the world makes me think that he probably killed his crew. Then again, he could've thought that after his crew had died. :/

Well, considering that after 7 years Pinbacker is still alive is unimaginable. I don't know how in the world (er, space) he could carry on without anyone to talk to or without much food/drink. That part of the plot is farfetched. I have absolutely no idea why he would position his "victims" either. It's interesting though.
Good point, aroreiel! Pinbacker could have killed the crew and then fried them. Oh, the possibilities.... only Alex Garland knows for sure.
Soooo.... about Trey....

Ah, yes.. our Trey. Oh! That reminds me... do any of you think Trey knew about Pinbacker before he died or no? This got me thinking about a possible password for this board: How many crew members knew about the mysterious fifth crew member? It would be 3, right? Cassie, Capa, and Mace. Corazon wasn't aware because she was... surprised. Just a thought. That might be too hard to answer... nevermind.

That part of the plot is farfetched. I have absolutely no idea why he would position his "victims" either. It's interesting though. Yup, that's what my dad kept asking me. How can Pinbacker survived (from watever that killed the rest of the crew) and for so long without food. (I'm thinking he pluck out some carrots from the oxygen garden, although he looks more like a carnivor). Anyway... (should we start a thread with Pinbacker? or maybe for *all* the crew??? ) I think Trey didn't know about Pinbacker (here we are, back to Pinbacker ), cause I still think it's Trey who committed suicide. Earlier on, few people mentioned that Pinbacker confused Trey with Cassie, but if Pinbacker killed Trey, he would have known it was Trey and won't be confused. Also, I think if Trey had known about Pinbacker, he would tell the crew or possibly Cassie (she seem less judgemental) about it. Sort of to save them (also to prevent from feeling more guilty) OR.... Trey *had* known about Pinbacker, and think that noone would believe him if he said it, and he's been feeling so guilty, PLUS realised Pinbacker's gonna kill him anyways, SO committed suicide... Am I making any sense here... P.S. I just realised that although we watched the film already, we're still back to guessing the plot...

P.S. I just realised that although we watched the film already, we're still back to guessing the plot... Yeah, well that might be irritating but I think that's what makes this film a bit more personal to its viewers. You interpret the film how you want to interpret it.

I love that too! That way, it doesn't just stop there, you know? Leave some space for our imagination, keep the heat alive! P.S. about the pw question thing, I think it's too easy... people who've watch the trailer will know there's 4 crew left, so it might be easy to guess...
