This week MTV.com is releasing the Cliff Curtis video to US-viewers only (well, that's what I've been told). I thought I'd let you all know the general, international, release dates of ALL the actor videos. The date is the day *after* which the videos can be released. I suspect there will be a race between territories to get them up first... The Chris Evans one is already up. (that was actually a mistake. not mine, I might add  ) March 5th - Benny and Troy March 12th- Cliff and Michelle March 19th- Sanada-san March 26th- Rose April 6th (I need to check if that date is a mistake)- Cillian There *might* be some other behind-the-scenes videos released elsewhere, but that isn't entirely confirmed yet. From memory they are about the stunts, SFX and the design of the mission patch (an interview with Anita Dhillon!). I will let everyone know the moment I know. Also, there will be another clip of the film released - I hope- this week. It's Cillian. |

When you say a clip of the film (with Cillian...yay!) will be released this week, do you mean on your SunshineDNA blog, or will that clip and the behind-the-scenes videos be released "elsewhere" and we must hunt/track down all these new goodies, like the incredible UK trailer that just popped up "elsewhere" yesterday? In a nutshell, I am a little confused as to where these things are coming from, if you have (or should have) the monopoly on them and their distribution. Good questions, Marilyn!
To be perfectly honest, things are rather chaotic on this side of things. This is the biggest online campaign Fox (not just Searchlight) has ever done. The sheer amount of content available is staggering, the number of countries releasing the film at the same time is overwhelming, the *interest* in (and the early reactions to) the film is (are) mind-boggling. I understand that internally Sunshine's status has been "bumped up" from a 'Searchlight title' to a 'big Fox title'... and departments around the world who normally deal with the release of "small" films like 'Sideways' or 'Little Miss Sunshine' are being thrown off into the deep end to deal with something which, online, is bigger and more wide-spread than even, say, the XMen or FF.
The online stuff isn't exactly centrally run. Each country has access to exactly the same things I do (actually I've got a bit more, but...), and though there is a 'release schedule', it's up to each territory to release things as and when and where they want (keeping to the schedule, of course).
I refrain from releasing certain things because I am, in a way, speaking to the converted - the videos on MTV, for example, are reaching people who *haven't* been following the film's progress for 18 months! The job of the marketing departments is to get as many people around the world to hear about Sunshine as possible. My main job (I believe) is to provide information about Sunshine behind-the-scenes and to talk about the background themes of the film.
Back to your questions... The Cillian clip. No, that is being released someplace *specific* and the second it's live I will tell you where it is (it's a kind of event/competition). The actor videos according to the schedule, however... well, that's going to be a scrum between all the territories to get them our first. I, more than likely, won't be told about when/where they are being released and I *will* wait for them to be released 'elsewhere' before I put them up.

And Benny's is great, too! I love learning about the virus he created! Wow! Edit: By "he" I obviously meant Trey...
LOL at the spoiler in Troy's video, by the way. I giggled. I love the way he puts it, though, and it refers back to the themes thread. "Eventual end" and all that.
Gosh... I love these guys...

Sunshine Factoid:
In the interview Troy says that Sunshine is about "Eight astronauts strapped to the back of a bomb."
Alex and Andrew thought that was so cool that it's now a line in the film!

Um...I may be totally technologically incompetent, but I can only find Cliff's video.  And that actually took me a really long time to find, too.... Anyone want to help me out and direct me to the others? Edit: Just kidding....I found them now. I fricking hate that website though. But they are wonderful, so I guess it's worth it. |

OH, and thisisliz, just let it keep playing after Cliff's video and it'll automatically start Benny's and then Troy's after that. It took me a bit, too. MTV.com should really rethink their organization (or lack thereof).
