I think the only two possible ratings that this heavenly gift of a movie is going to receive are PG-13 or R. Based on random gossip on the net about the teaser, I'm putting my foot down on the R rating. That would be fine by me, only if the reason for making it rated R is not only encompassing the scary aspect of the movie (if you catch my drift ).It's official! "Rating Reason: Rated R for violent content and language."Lol I almost jumped when I saw the 'rating reason' for Sunshine (2000) rather than for Sunshine (2007).Link: MPAA.org

Good one! LOL Ain't it be? ;D But seriously, in one of the videos at the official site, I saw the mysterious creature browsing around the ship and it looked scary! I wanted to hide from my lappy!!!

Well, in case anyone missed it, here's a cap: If you would like to watch the actual video, it appears around the middle of the Alwin Kuchler video.

This thread is morphing into something which should be placed under Sunshine Videography...this is so hard to organize! lol

Hehe There's a section for that, isn't there? Edit: You know it's impossible to completely separate topics on this movie, right? ;D

Hi guys! We've wondered what the rating will be and talked about it the other week when we saw the film. The UK has slightly different ratings than the US - we have 'U', 'PG' '12a' (under 12s must be accompanied) '12', '15' and '18' and they are strictly enforced, so people under 18 aren't able to see an '18' even if they are accompanied by their parents...
After we saw it the other week we thought it would get a '15'...

^Wow! Thanks for the insider update. That rate sounds satisfactory to me. Here's a Light Year for you! I'll eventually make a thread explaining the idea behind Light Years if some people aren't familiar with Proboards. In the US, we have 'G' (General; all ages admitted), 'PG' (Parental Guidance; some material may not be suitable for children), 'PG-13' (some material may be inappropriate for children under 13), 'R' (Restricted; no one under 17 admitted unless accompanied by parent or adult guardian), and 'NC-17' (no children 17 and under admitted).

But then, as I mentioned on SunshineDNA, the trailer was given a PG rating and I think - though it doesn't show anything "bad"- it's far too tense for kids... Sometimes I don't understand how films get the ratings they get.
I've got a 10 year old boy and I like to watch 12a films before I allow him to see them. 'War of the Worlds' got a 12a in the UK which means that kids under the age of 12 can see it with their parents. I thought it was *terrifying* so haven't let him see it yet. I think it should have got a 12...
It'll be interesting to see what 'Sunshine' gets. We really don't know. 15 was just a guess.

Understandable.
Sometimes I hear babies crying in the movie theaters- when 'PG-13' or even 'R' rated films are playing! I hate to go off-topic, but what mothers are allowing their kids to see these days is beyond me. As a huge movie fanatic, this is my greatest pet peeve.

I'll put money on it being R in the USA, and 15 in the UK.
