Thanks. And I love how, in Brick, he so calmly takes off his glasses and puts 'em in that crush-proof tube before a fight. That was one of my favorite film visuals of the last five years.Meanwhile, back at the ranch-- Maybe this belongs over in the new Themes thread, but it's head-twisting how delicate our civilized veneer really is. We-- and this includes Capa and Mace and the gang-- think we're it because we've got a cerebral cortex, a couple of frontal lobes, and some language skills. But the surface is so thin-- scratch it, and next thing you know you're dipping your metaphoric toes into that magma of emotions and hormones bubbling underneath. It's sort of like views of the Earth from space, when you can see how thin the biosphere really is. God nicks it with a thumbnail-- and we're gone.Man, I do have to head over to the Themes area, don't I...?

Heh, it seems the Musings thread and the Themes thread pretty much integrate into one after a certain point. I loved Brick. It had to be the best movie I saw last year, and has become a favorite. I'm so glad you've seen it! ;D And yeah, I loved all the parts where he knows he's gonna get beaten, so he's just like *fwip* and saves his glasses.
