Hi, I'm new here, just signed in. I've only had the DVD a few days, watched it twice so far. I have over 50 movies in my collection and I can honestly say none of them affect me quite like Sunshine. I don't know what it is....it's just exhilarating. And the music score just takes it to a whole other level. I have to say Kaneda's death sequence has got to be one of the best in movie history, however brief it is. And the rousing theme just adds so much raw emotion. Danny Boyle said in the commentary that at that moment where Kaneda dies, everyone in the studio fell absolutely silent. It must have been quite emotional.
About the soundtrack:
I am hoping that all you guys waiting for the soundtrack are NOT going to buy it for the two idiotic tracks in the credits? It IS the actual music score we're talking about, right? Also, there seems to be some confusion regarding the trailer music, "Requiem for a Dream", and the actual movie soundtrack. I know "Requiem for a Dream" and I didn't hear it anywhere in the movie. The actual movie signature theme - like where Kaneda dies - isn't "Requiem for a Dream", but another score entirely done specifically for the movie; it's its main theme. I want the Sunshine THEME music, not the "Requiem" trailer music. Sunshine's theme is infinitely better. But I bet they put "Requiem" on the damn soundtrack anyway.
*goes away grumbling why didn't he see it at the cinema!*
Cheers

Welcome, redshift! I loved Kaneda's death scene, too. Very intense.

Sunshine was definitely made for the theaters, but I'm glad you watched it nonetheless. Thank you for joining this fan forum, redshift. Kaneda is one of my favorite characters. I am a Hiroyuki Sanada fan, can you tell? ;D His final act was one of the film's highlights for me as well.
