Kicking around an idea: What if there'd been only one mission? Both crews on the same ship, things go horrifically wrong, the B-teamers or nightsiders are left running the show, that sort of thing.

Might give it a shot-- only I've been offered a sort of gig writing about classic films for a group of sweeties at an Australian film site, and there's only so much sleep this old corpse can miss. We'll see... but the fan-fic bug, she's a-biting....

Random thoughts--

Marazon. Is that the word--? Anyway, it's gonna be happening.

Why people are REALLY afraid to fall asleep. Never mind the "every time I close my eyes" stuff. Something very, VERY bad happens one night. (Yes, I know: it's ALWAYS NIGHT in space. Or ALWAYS DAY that close to the sun. For sheesh already--!)

I have a list of the names of the crew of the Icarus I, but not a list of their respective positions. Therefore, unless someone knows who's who (other than Pinbacker) and who did what, I'm gonna make stuff up. Like I usually do.

Just gotta get the ending firmed up in my head. Then we'll kick off....

So whose kids are those at the film's end? The ones with Rosa seem too young to have been Fischer's. And it seems far too great a coincidence that her husband would have been on the first trip. Guess that's a backstory I don't care to speculate about.

You know what's eerie? How I think they settled on Rosa's name. The vid-wallet that was sold as one of the "Sunshine" props by the Prop Store of London had a picture I.D. in it that was obviously taken from a canceled California driver's license. They inserted Paloma Baeza's picture in it, but the stats were funky. For instance, slender Rosa supposedly weighed one hundred and sixty pounds. Left me feeling a little creeped out. Reminded me of those people who used to prowl graveyards looking for the graves of infants, so they could apply for spurious Social Security numbers. What-- is there a database of canceled licenses somewhere on the 'net...? (OVER HERE, COUNTERFEITERS! HEY! OVER HERE!)

But thanks for the tip. I dunno, though-- I'm giving it more thought, and the idea of writing another fic is beginning to drag me down. Especially another all-out slaughter. I've got four essays started for the film site; that's a whole lot of scribbling right there, and it's making a change, writing about things that don't mess me the hell up emotionally. (That's a laugh. I've watched "West Side Story" four times in the last three days, and I feel like someone kicked my heart down a flight of stairs. What a movie--!)

We'll see. Got one big set-piece in mind, and it's a doozy....

Hey, insanity...!

"Binary" is sort of on the back burner for the moment. Got the ol' "Red Eye" impulse and wrote about a hundred thousand words of THAT over the past few months. Currently blocking out a "Red Eye"/"Batman" story, per a request. (All this stuff is piled up over at Fanfiction.net, and most of it's sorta-kinda mature, for reasons of violence, language, and semi-extreme canoodling. I'm Punctuator over there. )

But I've still got "Binary" on the brain. Big, complex. Depressing--! We'll see. The idea is there; just gotta find the time and the motivation...!

I recently got Sony Vegas and Handbrake, so I'm going to try to create a music video/trailer to one of your fictions... I'm excited and can't wait for Binary XD

A video...? I would be most honored! And curious, too: a movie of something based on a movie but which isn't actually a movie itself.... Cool. I try to think cinematically when I do a story, but in real life I guess you'd call me semi-video-impaired. (Managed to edit a tiny little clip in iMovie the other day, and I felt like Cecil B. DeMille!)

Gonna toss this out just for the heck of it: the final visual reference for Whitby, the one I keep in my head, is Steve Hanks' painting Moving On. I first saw it on the cover of a Bud Plant art catalogue, and I just about fell over. Holy cats, I thought, that's her...! Have no idea who the model is....

"Mad Jack, Madder Rose" is about to kick off for realsies over in Red Eye-land, so "Binary" should be underway in about a month. Hate to admit it, but I'm at an age where I need my sleep....
