Anyone remember a film called Solar Crisis? I don't suppose anybody would it was a japanese straight to video release. Sunshine seems to be a similar but better presented and written film along a close storyline. The Storyline was that a mega solar ejection was imminent, that would destroy the Earth. So a ship the Helios is sent to drop a antimatter bomb on the target. On the way there are accidents and sabotage. Also action on Earth as the heroes son & father search for the leader behind the sabotage plot. On the whole it didn't quite gel, but I thought it was good storyline. So to Danny Boyle, many thanks & I can't wait to see this If It's anything like 28 Days later, I won't be getting much in the way of sleep for a while after seeing it.

Tim,
I think 'Sunshine' is a different kind of disturbing to '28DL'... A lot of people who come out of it aren't quite able to find any words... One Dutch journalist said that she was unable to ride her bike for 10 minutes afterwards. Another journalist the other week said that after the junkets in London lots of the journos went out for dinner and spent the whole night talking about 'Sunshine'... I can't quite put my finger on why it disturbs people... but I think, perhaps, it makes people think about things they've never really thought about before... and their conclusions are what disturb them.

I certainly remember Solar Crisis. Tim Matheson, Charleton Heston, and Peter Boyle ( ) in a sci-fi film had me jumping to watch it on video. The film did have moments, but definitely had more of the tv-movie-of-the-week feel to it other than the special effects.
