So, I'm sure almost every Cillian fan here has seen TWTSTB, but not having the ability to teleport to someplace with reasonable release dates, I thought I'd have to wait 'til the DVD. But wait! Did I hear a release date rumor? Well rumor it isn't--it's a fact! For however limited a time, TWTSTB is coming to the US! On March 16, no less--a nice tiding-over type of present to help make March 16 a non-sulking kind of day. My only question is, is there a list of theaters somewhere that it'll come to, perhaps, like there was with Breakfast On Pluto? I hope there is... (Actually I'd settle for any news on a southern CA theater release. But. You know. I think that's a stretch. )

I don't think there'll be a list of theaters like with BOP. TWTSTB is most likely a limited release, and as far as I can remember, it wasn't even listed on the Scoreboard I get at work (that has almost every release date [except for some film loads of people have been asking about called "Amazing Grace" that I've never even heard of] up until about mid-May). I'm fairly certain that means it'll be a "limited release" picture, so only theaters with the screens to accomodate it will have it, I'm sure. Contact theaters in your area to see if they will. I know we don't get our bookings until the Monday before films are released on Friday (so for TWTSTB, we won't know until the 12th whether we're even going to get it or not), so I'm not sure how soon your closest theaters would know.
But hey--! I hope it comes someplace nearby! I really liked it... I'm a bit biased, but... still. I thought the performances were incredible... I wasn't a big fan of some other things, but the acting, at least, was top-notch.

You might want to keep your eyes peeled over here: www.landmarktheatres.com/Films/films_frameset.asp?id=55187The problem with the release of TWTSTB in the U.S. comes largely from the fact that someone somewhere in a blinding fit of brilliance thought it would be a good idea to "day and date" the film's release, which means that it's going to appear on cable via Video on Demand the same day it opens in theatres-- which, understandably, has upset the living beans out of a number of theatre chains. It's tough to fill those seats when people can sit home and watch a film-- and not one whose big F/X demand widescreen viewing-- and record and burn it for themselves and all their friends. Sure, more people might get to see it-- but theatre owners aren't in the game for altruism: they need to make money. So even Landmark was skittish about picking it up.... Good luck!

hi kagerou good news for you. laemmle's in west hollywood, pasadena and encino will play TWTSTB on march 16. you can almost always get theatre listings from this site. www.filmjerk.comgo to EARLY REPORT. PART ONE lists films that will release in the next few weeks. it will almost always include theatres, especially when in limited release. when it goes into a bit wider, it will list opening week release info for CITIES. if it goes into WIDE release, it usually just notes 2000 theatres, 3000 etc. PART TWO lists CHANGES on release dates, and can list a years worth of tentative and locked dates. (for instance this note, from part 2.....Sunshine (Fox Searchlight): Danny Boyle's sci-fi/drama, set to open next week, gets bumped to Fall 2007 TBD) ~~~~~~~~ here is the detail on TWTSTB for opening week in the US. as it goes wider, (if it does) it will continue to add the theatre lists and dates. The Wind that Shakes the Barley Logline: Two brothers are torn apart by anti-Brit rebellion in early 20th Century Ireland. In English and in Gaelic with subtitles Featuring: Liam Cunningham, Padraic Delaney, Gerard Kearney, Cillian Murphy, William Ruane Director: Ken Loach Writer: Paul Laverty Distributor: IFC Films (Opening Week Release Pattern: Opens at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline MA, the BAM Rose Cinemas in Brooklyn, Laemmle's Town Center 5 in Encino, the First and 62nd Street Cinemas and the IFC Film Center in New York City, Laemmle's Playhouse 7 in Pasadena, Landmark's Embassy Cinemas in Waltham MA and Laemmle's Sunset 5 in West Hollywood on March 16

Well the premiere was tonight...er...well technically last night, in NYC at the MoMA.
Yep. The one time I'm not in NYC he shows up in my town. I like to thank a good friend of mine for rubbing that all in my face. >_> New images are up on WireImage.com but alas I have no account.

I would LOVE to meet with Ken Loach! He's one of my idols. I would love to sit down with him and bug him with all these questions. As corny as this sounds, he is an inspiration.

Cillian and Mr. Loach are pictured in USA TODAY-dot-com's Day in Celebrities for March 8. (And, uh, I have a Wireimage account. Maybe this weekend we could work something out.... )
