TRAVEL ALERT!!! I'm heading for San Francisco this week. Will be leaving Wednesday morning and getting back Sunday evening. As the skies are treating us to sloppy winter follow-up snow today, I'm thinking said trip comes at an opportune time. If anyone would like to take a shot at Corazon, Trey, or Capa, feel free. If not, this might be a nice time for a break all 'round. (Was wondering, actually, if we might push the RPG time forward a couple of weeks or so, to put the gang closer to re-establishing contact with Earth. [After we find out what's ailing Cassie, that is...!]) (And by the way: Snow. GRRRR. And again: GRRRR....)

Pushing ahead sounds okay to me. That way I can send our new 2IC out to complete the repairs to the Comms Tower and Harvey's craziness will hopefully dissipate. Also, considering the entire cast - excluding Trey - is asleep right now, it's not exactly making for a riveting read, hehe.
Anyone else?

That's okay with me, guys. This week and weekend are rough for me anyways because of a few writing assignments. Therefore the break comes perfectly and we can all think of a summary for the skip in the meantime. Personally, it doesn't matter to me. I've done my scheme.

A break sounds good to me. I'm in the same boat with Chero... for the most part away.

Two possible pre-jump things: Assuming that Trey (possibly with Icarus's help-- "What did you do, Icarus? Pipe 'collective coma' gas into the cabins last night?" [Answered, of course, with a prim " Query not understood, Trey."]) can roust everyone for breakfast.... a. If Cassie stops by Medical and Capa runs a few tests, what-- if anything-- does he discover? and b. The Capa/Mace "You've got access to my records"/ "Can we boost the lighting?"/ "What's up with Cassie?" chat. (Which could come post-jump, too.... ) ... hmmm...?

OH I almost forgot the chat. *smacks self in forehead*
Yes, I s'pose we could do that after the jump, though. I is busy this weekend too, so it all works out for me.
I guess it's settled then, isn't it?

a. If Cassie stops by Medical and Capa runs a few tests, what-- if anything-- does he discover? Tests won't be necessary since she already knows the problem. ....

Quick question (if it's unrelated, shoot me): Kali, does your changing your favorite character to Corazon have anything to do with the RPG? *wink, wink* *nudge, nudge*

Massiefan: Yep. Chero: Also one from the "yep" department. Corazon is plenty fun to write right now. Kind of a devilish sense of humor there... among other things.... And Brittany: Since Capa's and other folks' enquiring minds are dying to know-- one, perhaps, from the April Fools department: Capa looks confused. Maybe a little stunned--
"Why didn't you tell me before...?"
Cassie bites her lower lip. "I meant to. Capa, I'm sorry: I just never found the right time...."
"You're allergic to physicists."
"Mm hm."
"All physicists? Quantum? Particle? Theoretical?"
"Pretty much the lot, yeah. I was diagnosed when I was eleven." Cassie looks away and down. "It's like anything else. Some people are allergic to cats, some people are allergic to peanuts--"
"I am not a peanut!"
Right about now, Cassie starts to snicker.... ... to tide us over 'til the real diagnosis is forthcoming....

I'm actually conflicted on what Cassie could have. I just wanted to spice things up... but I'm not sure if I want to get too dramatic. I guess it depends on how I feel when the time comes.

Hey, I'm BACK! Re: San Francisco 1. Steep. I'm talking RIDICULOUSLY STEEP. When they say that Zurich, Switzerland, is SF's sister city, they're NOT KIDDING. It's not walking: it's MOUNTAIN CLIMBING. One touch of freezing rain, and the whole town would slide into the bay. 2. Street cars. Like legal permission to be the firehouse dog, hanging off the side of one of those things. Especially on the hills as noted in number 1, above. 3. Weather. We must keep in mind, coming from HELL-- oops, I mean Minnesota-- that what is cold to a Californian (or, indeed, to just about anyone who doesn't live here on the perma-taiga) is NOT cold to a Minnesotan. On our final streetcar adventure (see number 2, above), we were hanging off the outside bars in front of a family from Australia. They were in parkas and Thinsulate caps; The Niece and I were in t-shirts and light hoodies. This thick hide, she comes in handy. 4. Our whale-watching tour got canceled, but we chanced upon two classic dinosaurs. Carrie Fisher was in Berkeley with her one-woman show, and BILLY EFFING CONNOLLY was performing his new show three blocks from our hotel. Mondo-happy-coincidentalness! Anyway, I'm back....

Sounds amazing! I've been there before with Chero and we got to see lots of the sights, notably Alcatraz!! Fun stuff. Welcome back.

Great to hear from you, Kali. Does this mean we are starting up again?

I should hope so! I'm voting for starting this next day, getting a grip on what's up with Cassie, and then popping ahead two weeks or so. (I've got a potential plot twist on the horizon, too.... ) One other thing about San Francisco: We got to tour the Pampanito, the World War II Balao-class sub tied up at the dock down on Fisherman's Wharf. And if Danny Boyle was seriously thinking that space aboard the two Icaruses would be as limited as the space aboard a submarine (looking back to the cast touring that decommissioned sub up in Scotland), well, to put it as indelicately as I ever put things, he was on meds that I'd just as soon avoid. In a word: NO. In three words: NO BLEEPING WAY. And in several dozen words: They're two entirely opposite environments, space and the ocean. A sub has to armor its interior space against extreme pressure; a spaceship (especially one built in orbit) does not. And WW II sub tours lasted three months or so; the Icarus is heading out for three years. Cramping the room aboard ship is fine if you want to whip up artificial drama about people going nuts in space; realistically, you'd want to give your crew room to move. So it was extremely interesting, roaming that sub. I love WW II-era stuff. But as for an old double-hulled steel can like that making a realistic template for a ship on a long space voyage fifty years from now: uh uh. Nope. Thus endeth the rant. So.... Should I wake up Capa and Corazon...? Get Trey busy pouring the juice...?
