It doesn't seem like he uses his bed that much... It also looks so tidy yet messy at the same time. How odd.

1. That bed is bigger than my bed in my college dorm. Granted, my bed at college was a roll-out sofa, but still. At least they're not hot-bunking.
2. Gloomy. Gloomy gooood.
3. Is Capa some kind of old-fashioned guy or what? What's with all the paper...? Seems a society fifty years down the pike would be even more paper-free than we are now: number doodles on Wacom tablets, that sort of thing. Does the paper help him visualize his equations...? How much foolscap do they lug along on space voyages, anyway...?
(And-- just an aside: if Cillian was transcribing legit equations into his own handwriting, I hope it wasn't the handwriting he uses for autographs. Else we'd be hearing "Hey, Capa-- is that a 'three' or an 'e'? A 'five'? What the hell--?" [The three-e-five-what? is one I've personally perfected. Years of practice, y'know. People dread my threes.])

Usually people in high professions have terrible handwriting. Example: doctors!

Well that's quite a cozy and scrumptious corner Capa's got there.

Agreeing with the paper part, haha. Holographic plastic notepads, click and search like tablets. Also seconding the gloomy = good part ^^;;; Why don't I just say I agree with punctuator, and I'll stop trying ^^

Capa might just prefer paper. It reminds him of earth, eh? Paper = Trees

Maybe they were very, very important calculations and he wrote them down before they left?

Just thinking in terms of media and messes. Paper's highly destructible, it equals added weight, and, darn it, it ends up everywhere when the artificial gravity gives out. Thus sayeth the

Ahem.

I think it looks rather comfy in there. Could do with a tiny bit of color that isn't gray or blue. Maybe something tiny that was red or orange or something to balance it all out....Of course, who am I to tell a fictional character how to decorate his own room?
On a side note, I'm wondering what is up with the rolled up bit of paper under his pillow......I shall now speculate speculate speculate....

I'm thinking it looks quite like a journal or something. Some sort of book. It's like it's been folded back.
