Upon the release of Sunshine, I believe that many of the cast members will really show themselves to the world. Hopefully this means that all of the actors will finally get that push into the public eye that they each deserve in their own right. For instance, I've never even heard of Troy Garity, Benedict Wong, or Hiroyuki Sanada before discovering this film. I'm so glad that I found them. What are everybody else's opinions?

I agree with you. I'd heard of Cillian, obviously, but the names of the other actors really never meant anything to me. Now I see them all over the place and am thoroughly intrigued.

Yeah, I think the entire cast are hidden talents, just waiting for the right moment to shine.

Hiroyuki Sanada has not really been hidden. He's a big name in Japan. Also, very well-respected stage actor in Japan and the UK.
I'm a big fan so I could write a post that might bore you to tears if you don't know his work.
BUT---
Have you not seen The Last Samurai? His character, Ujio, beats the _ _ _ _ out of the Tom Cruise character, Nathan Algren. You must check it out. The hate and anger he/as Ujio shows in his face (mostly his eyes) is awesome.

I'm in the US and I don't hear Hiroyuki Sanada's name mentioned as much as other actors. Also, I've seen The Last Samurai and I didn't like it because of Tom Cruise. He spoiled it for me. I might watch it again because of Sanada though. I forgot he was in it...no offense.

Wouldn't a thread on TLS be off base.? Don't want to get myself in trouble. Ha.
But, boy do I love to write about that film and Hiro!!! In fact, just yesterday I was watching it AGAIN but with Ed Zwick's comments. It's absolutely facinating.
Let me get my thoughts together on a list for you. BTW, www.imdb.com has lots of great TLS fan fav moments etc.

Threads about all things non- Sunshine (relating to the actors) are welcome over there. ;D You can talk about Hiro and his projects all you want as long as it's in The Actors.

After watching Troy, Benedict, Chris, and Cliff's behind-the-scenes videos, I KNOW there will be fansites popping up once Sunshine kicks off in the US. Troy seems like a VERY fun guy and seems so down-to-earth. Benedict's voice is AMAZING and I CAN'T wait to see him act as a child prodigy. I just can't help staring at Cliff while he is talking about his character because he is so knowledgeable about the subject. Chris makes Danny Boyle sound so funny as a director! I LOVE all of the humor these videos offer - ESPECIALLY the questions that spark from them. I'm already growing a bond with all of these actors who I barely know! It's a shame that most of these people go unrecognized in the US, both on the Internet and in American public events. What bugs me is how directors pick the same celebrity to head major productions. This is why Danny Boyle is amazing. He brings out the hidden talent from around the world to America. ;D

This movie will surly be a big step in the cinema world for the actors. Aside from Cillian i'm starting to like Chris Evans. he is a good actor and i would like to see him in more movies (other then fantastic four). Have you not seen The Last Samurai? His character, Ujio, beats the _ _ _ _ out of the Tom Cruise character, Nathan Algren. You must check it out. The hate and anger he/as Ujio shows in his face (mostly his eyes) is awesome. Oh that was him? The Last Samurai is a really good movie.

I was looking back on everyone's filmography and Cliff looks cool in Virus. Mark Strong seems to have a nack for being the antagonist....Syriana anybody? I think I might have a "movie night" of each of these cast member's popular movies. I DEFINITELY need to see Michelle Yeoh's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon again.

I remember seeing Crouching Tiger also, but I didn't really appreciate at the time, so the re-viewing is also seconded.
