If we're gonna deal with WHAT IFs, it's going to be one heck of a dealing. Because, frankly, we can't just blame Capa here. There's also...
+ What if Kaneda didn't listen to Capa?
+ What if Searle didn't present a counter argument?
+ What if Trey didn't suggest, that with the right calculation, they can easily adjust their angle and dock Icarus I?
+ What if Harvey didn't pick up that distress signal?
+ What if Mace didn't let the Oxygen Room burn completely?
We can't blame Capa for what he decided. He DID make a sound decision. He just didn't know about Pinbacker being a psycho killer... and the rest of the other slasher stuff. It's lik the mistakes we did. When we made the decisions that we did in the past and it ended badly. We can't be blamed for any of that because our intentions were good and we had no way of knowing what will happen next.

Bottom line (as someone else mentioned previously on this forum): What if the character's roles were shifted around?  ...and Capa was the pilot.... Searle the engineer.... I can go on and on and on.... and on.  |

IF THEY HAD ALL JUST LISTENED TO MACE, NOBODY WOULD HAVE DIED. I have to agree with that assessment. He had an astronaut's mentality of "mission before everything", and he understood the meaning of sacrifice and expendability for the greater good. |

What if Corazon cook for them?! It might not be surprising for a botanist to cook BUT seeing as Michelle's the WORST cook in the group (according to our beloved Hiro), the crew might not last long enough for the mission!  Icarus: Warning, you are dying!
Crew: ...as long as we live long enough to complete the mission...
Icarus: You will not live long enough to deliver the payload!
Crew: why?!
Icarus: CORAZON'S COOKING TONIGHT!
