The script needed another coat of Meguiar's, but, boy howdy, it was great seeing Rose do (very, VERY) black humor. Her character, Roberta, is sort of a cross between Wednesday Addams and Lady Macbeth. Priceless bits: (1) Roberta describes the embalming process-- while eating a piece of turtle cheesecake; (2) Roberta and Oliver (Jay Baruchel, an endearing blend of Lurch and Revenge of the Nerds-era Robert Carradine) make a corpse-bomb; and (3) a fatal encounter in the funeral-home chapel, complete with baseball and death-by-peanuts. Uneven but fun!
