Summary: When commercial towing vehicle Nostromo, heading back to Earth, intercepts an SoS signal from a nearby planet, the crew are under obligation to investigate. After a bad landing on the planet, some crew members leave the ship to explore the area. At the same time as they discover a hive colony of some unknown creature, the ship's computer deciphers the message to be a warning, not a call for help. When one of the eggs is disturbed, the crew do not know the danger they are in until it is too late.

I finally had a chance to see this film and I enjoyed it *very* much. Although certain events were unbelievable, particularly the one where Dallas scolds Ripley for not letting his small excavation team inside the ship. Above all others, quarantine laws should be followed. No exceptions. A captain should recognize this, too.
The fact that Ash was an android justified my reason for liking him. I've always enjoyed watching Ian Holm on the big screen. His eyes are like a puppy's and he is short (like me). ANYWAYS, the point I am trying to make here is that although Ash was the troublemaker within the crew, the fact that he was an android made his actions sensible. That was a nice plot twister for me.
Additionally, it's wonderful to see a high-quality heroine in the cinematic world. Science fiction movies have that amazing ability to promote the strength of females. Sigourney Weaver was fun to watch as she was young and beautiful. Ripley's emotional journey was one-of-a-kind and her close bond with her cat brought me even closer to her. Although Ash is dead, Ripley influences me to watch the rest of the Alien series. She is that powerful as a character. Heh.
