Michelle has just been awarded Chevalier de Legion d'Honneur yesterday! It's really great! She is already a "knight" in Malaysia and now she's a "knight" in France! The medal. The one furthest to Michelle's right (wearing black) is Datin Janet Yeoh, Michelle's mother. The one on Michelle's right is the French Ambassador Alain du Boispean who presented the award to Michelle in a ceremony at his house in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The one is Michelle's left is of course, Datuk Seri Jean Todt, Michelle fiancee.

i didnt knew u can be knigthted in Malaysia... didnt even knew about France .. whell um Good for her Oh yes, you can! Michelle was awarded Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title Dato' or Datuk by Sultan Azlan Shah, the Sultan of Perak, her home state, in recognition of the fame she brought to the state. The award was given in conjunction with the Sultan's 73rd birthday celebrations. Dato is an honorary Malaysian title somewhat like a British knighthood, and it lies below the ranks of Dato' Seri, Tan Sri and Tun. Last year, Mr Jean Todt is awarded 'Datuk Seri' by Sultan of Terengganu, which is the Malaysian equivalent of the British 'Sir' - he is now widely addressed in Malaysian media as Datuk Seri Jean Todt. The French government has made Todt a Chevalier of its Legion d'Honneur. He was further honoured with the Grand Officier rank of the honour in January 2007. Another interesting thing is Michelle's father is also a Datuk.
