She is indeed. That movie was incredibly eye-catching, but that might just be me and my Japan obsession It was also the first film I saw Michelle in ^^

This was the first film I saw with Michelles too. I also didn't even know it was her until well, now (shame). Suprise, suprise. lol. I loved the movie. Loved!

I highly recommend you watch several of her other movies (well, okay - ALL of her other movies). Even the action flicks are very good. If you guys didn't recognize her from Crouching Tiger (well, you wouldn't if you haven't seen CTHD yet) then tsk tsk! She was also in Tomorrow Never Dies and Supercop. She is an accomplished actress and mind bogglingly brave (she's afraid of heights and yet look at what stunts she did in Supercop, Crouching Tiger, Ah Kam (another great one), and on and on).

Hey, Dean! promoting Michelle's movies already??? lol... Memoirs was great and so is the novel too. For me, my favourite of all time is still Wing Chun... There's a tofu related fighting scene that is really jaw breaking... lol... And of course, there's Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, brilliant acting!!! So for those people who are interested, might wanna check these movies....

someone told me that of all the cast, michelle impressed them just for being interested in all aspects of what was going on in production, and was quite genuine when being introduced to the various different departments, including such 'mundane' ones as visual effects etc. [not trying to single her out or make others look bad lol] shes been around a long time and i always thought she was pretty cool anyway; even so, i was a little surprised when i heard she had been cast for a 'brit sci-fi' film!
i havent seen 'geisha..' but ive seen alot of her other movies [yes, a fair amount of standard hk fare] and always wished that she'd get more, bigger, meaningful roles..

Here's hoping this one is a meaningful one, because I think this will show - possibly better than Memoirs (in which she wasn't the major character) - that she really is a great, versatile actress. She has done so many different roles and handled them all so well, if you know her this will be a great addition to her filmography.
As for her being so interested in what was going on, remember she's produced two of her own movies (The Touch and Silver Hawk, both very good) and thus she has an idea of what it takes to make a movie behind the scenes. Very smart lady.

Like dean said, it's probably because Michelle's been a producer herself. With a mix of curiousity too, I suppose. I was surprised myself when I heard Michelle was in a sci-fi film. I'm glad too, cause she's a versatile actress and should have a different role every once in a while. I'm also hoping she'll get better roles... Not necessary big roles (although don't mind if she did) but like you said, meaningful roles.... Can't wait til Sunshine is out!!! hehe...
