For me, Cliff Curtis, like Cillian, has the kind of chameleonic presence that only the most gifted actors possess. I first saw him ages ago ( ) in Once were Warriors and subsequently in (and in no particular order) Whale Rider, Training Day, Collateral Damage (small role but the best and most interesting in it), Blow, Insider, Three Kings...etc. hey, the list is endless and he has always been and become each character, and seemingly larger than life. So I am really looking forward to seeing all this amazing talent under one roof, or rather, under one Sun. I know, I know, that was lame

Sadly. I have yet to see him in any movie. I was going to watch The Fountain in theaters but it wasn't showing when I did decide to go (figures!). However, I did see the trailer to Whale Rider. He was showing so much emotion in it that it made my eyes water! The official site to that movie is still up and running so it must have been good!

I've really liked Cliff Curtis in the things I've seen-- but in those things ("Deep Rising" and "Virus"), monstrously bad things happen to his characters. In both shows, though, he has some very nice character moments, and he plays them well. So I'm a fan-- even if I'm looking at his name in the cast list for "Sunshine" and sort of thinking by default, "Oh, no-- poor Cliff!"
And-- holy cats-- that was him in "Three Kings." I haven't seen it in ages-- but I love that movie!

I saw Whale Rider a couple years ago, and it was really good. Unfortunately I didn't know who Cliff was at the time so...I can't remember much. But it was good. ;D

I was going to watch The Fountain in theaters but it wasn't showing when I did decide to go (figures!). The Fountain is definitely worth watching. The cinematography alone is astounding. You should be able to rent or buy a copy at this point (I bought it last week). If you like Darren Aronofsky's other films ( Pi, Requiem for a Dream) then you will like this one... I would classify it as "fantasy" even though it involves "far future" scenes.

I enjoyed The Fountain very much. It's quite philosophical. And Cliff certainly acted really well in it.
However, I still think Requiem was better.

However, I still think Requiem was better. Requiem For A Dream is one of the best films ever made. Hands down. Hard to top that one...

The first time I saw him was in Training Day. Imagine my surprise when I discovered he was from New Zealand! I think he's an extremely good actor, very overlooked when it comes to Hollywood (actually, I think in a way the entire cast is overlooked, I can't say anything bad about them in their other projects, yet you don't see them in a whole lot). I saw Sunshine a week after I saw Once Were Warriors. Its a tough movie, very, very moving, and without spoiling anything, Cliff's role is very...dark. Great movie. I hope to see more of him in the future!
