It's five to one in the morning but I had to tell you that Sunshine is definitely NOT showing at the Dublin Film Festival. I just had it confirmed...
I read the posts about it at IMDB and I sincerely hope no one thinks that *I* have been attempting to misinform anyone. I first read about it here. I immediate got in touch with Andrew Macdonald's assistant and asked if she could confirm it. She said, 'Ooooo that's really difficult. There's a lot of weird stuff going on with that and Fox. Maybe you should phone Sunshine's publicist.' I phoned the publicist. She said, 'I'm not even sure if that's going to happen or not. I saw that they've announced it and they shouldn't have. Absolutely nothing is confirmed. It's all gone a bit funny with Fox.' I told her that everyone here was interested in it and that people were talking about going. She said, 'It is *not* confirmed at all and I wouldn't want anyone to fly over for it and not have it happen. It's still all under discussion with Fox, but I will tell you if anything happens with it.'
Now, as there are all KINDS of complicated things going on with the film's release, I suspected that Fox US wouldn't allow it to be shown at the film festival... Because I hadn't heard a single thing about it... from ANYONE AT ALL... I assumed that it wasn't happening.
Anyway... I have never and would never try to misinform *anyone* about 'Sunshine'. I have been loyally agreeing to 'not talk about this' and 'not mention that' at Searchlight's request and have passed on the information I have been given, but I would certainly never lie about anything. And, for the record, no one has ever *asked* me to lie...
Also, I just want to apologise to you all for Searchlight messing everyone and everything around and I want you to know that Fox International is on your side. (she says cryptically)
So again: Sunshine is NOT showing at the Dublin Film Festival.
Aren't you glad you *didn't* buy those plane tickets?
