Summary: A wild, freeform, Rabelaisian trip through the darkest recesses of Edinburgh low-life, focusing on Mark Renton and his attempt to give up his heroin habit, and how the latter affects his relationship with family and friends: Sean Connery wannabe Sick Boy, dimbulb Spud, psycho Begbie, 14-year-old girlfriend Diane, and clean-cut athlete Tommy, who's never touched drugs but can't help being curious about them...

I finally saw the Danny Boyle classic! It was showing at my college cinema and the turnout was overwhelming. The line to the theater was literally out the door (and it was a midnight showing). Ewan McGregor never fails to impress me with his talent. His character Renton was by far my favorite out of the crazy bunch. The cinematography was incredible, particularly the scene where Renton "dives" into a toliet. The story was humorous in parts, but I had some trouble keeping up with the dialogue. Begbie, Robert Carlyle's character, was the hardest to understand.
A few questions popped up at me though:

A few questions popped up at me though:
1. Did Spud truly get what he deserved in the end, monetary-wise? (I think he got gyped!)
2. Was Renton the ultimate blame for Tommy's death? (Renton stole the videotape that could have possibly ended Tommy's relationship with Jenny[?] which then triggered his heroin addiction [and eventual stroke].)
3. Was Sick Boy the father to the neglected baby? (I know it was said that the father was unknown, but by the way he grieved seemed suggestive.)
4. Can Andrew Macdonald come look at my house? (This is just a silly question. Please disregard it.)
