... is starting up over in the Fan Fiction Archive. I think. It's my first shot at using the Archive, and I'm not sure if it and my Mac are seeing eye-to-eye, so... go on over and check it out! Warnings: Rough as grade-forty sandpaper and depressing as hell. This one is NOT gonna be pretty. Penumbra

Sorry for the tardiness! I just added the story to the Archive. Thanks so much for the submission, Kali! ;D I'm going to read it now. First thing I noticed was that it is under the 'General' category. I'm intrigued already.

Umm-- I have no idea how to make links look pretty. If someone could, uh, make that say "Penumbra" up above, I'd be grateful.... And chero-- It landed under "General" largely because my Macbook Pro was being a little less than completely forthcoming with the page coding. "You're not disregarding the category selections, are you, Mac?" I was saying. "'Cause it looks like you're disregarding the category selections."/ "Nuh uh. Got your category selections right here, 'ski," replied MBP. / "You sure about that--? 'Cause it looks like you're ignoring 'em."/ "I'm telling ya, I've got 'em right here. You want I should drop a kernel panic on ya? Would that make ya happy...?" (In other words, I'm still getting the hang of things. We're lucky I didn't end up accidentally classifying it as a western. )

You are too cute! I'm sorry to hear that Mac is having trouble with the PHP script I used. I have Windows so I'm mindless when it comes to other platforms. Let me plague you with another apology! (I'll say 'sorry' all week if I have to!) I'll post the link for you. As for the category dilemma (and any others you might see), if you can't correct them on your computer, I will gladly do it for you. That might seem inconvenient for you (especially in your future endeavors) so believe me when I say that I'll look into Mac compatibility for the script. EDIT// Brittany beat me to it!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've got it all mapped out; I know where it's going and where it's gonna end up. Just gotta flesh it out. Nearly posted another little bit this A.M., the power of Amarula compelling me (jeez, I'm a regular poster child for the "Wild" Bill Faulkner School of Boozed Writing, aren't I--? ) but I'm trying not to stampede this one. Grim, weird, twisty stuff (with which Amarula goes nicely, thank you very much!). And I need to snooze sometime. (That old question: Do you want to write or do you want to sleep?) But don't worry: there'll certainly be more on the way very soon...!

Alright -- I found one problem relating to your situation, Kali. Sometimes the WYSIWYG editors don't work on Macs. It's the browser. Make sure you log on to the Archive using FireFox instead of Safari. Safari has been known to have issues. If this is inconvenient for you, tell me your specific problems and I'll post a report.

Thanks, chero. Firefox is my browser of choice (Safari being, shall we say, not one of Apple's finest efforts ). Think it's more a matter of me wrapping my noggin around a new posting procedure. Will certainly let you know, though, if I spot any bugs!

Double post--! Submitted the highly depressing Chapter 1, but I'm not sure if it worked. The board may have fatal-errored me. (Or exercised a moment of sound editorial judgment. ) Can you tell if it went through, chero...?

Your chapter had to be validated. I did it for you, but I sent you an email on how to do this yourself in the future. ... your new addition is beautiful.

Thank you, Hunter! Odd thing is, I don't usually read fan fiction, either. I work really weird, long hours, so I write only when something's really burrowed in under my skin or when I've got so much bubbling around in my brain that the plates in my skull threaten to part company. Whatever stories I post are things I have to get out. Which is okay, I guess.... About the rating-- I might have gone with "R," but the questionable bits center around injuries and gore (implied or actual), anguish, and language. I tend to associate stronger ratings with sexual situations. So we'll see. Depending on how intense things get, maybe we'll be looking at an upgrade.... And, Brittany, thanks for the assist. I was getting an error message when I tried to validate earlier, but that may have had something to do with the Firefox theme I was running. We'll see!

Nope-- DOUBLE-POST-- I think it's official: The site doesn't want to play nice with Macs. When I wade in under Admin, this is the message I get: A fatal MySQL error was encountered. There are 1 chapters waiting to be validated. You are currently running eFiction version 3.3.1.-- and it won't let me through to the validation stage. So if someone-- Brittany, Chero: hint, hint-- would care to okay Chapter 2, I'd appreciate it! .... not to mention, I'm starting to think I oughtta be handing out Prozac with this one. Man, this is sad...!
