The music in the trailer-- one of 'em anyway-- is on loan from "Requiem for a Dream," isn't it? I might have rolled a few melodies from the "Red Planet" soundtrack for the promo spots. Graeme Revell produced some amazing music for that movie, and Emma Shapplin provided absolutely breathtaking vocals. Way overlooked...! Speaking of "Red Planet"-- not without its flaws, but hey: more parallels, anyone....

Graeme Revell is a genius when it comes to movie scores. You wouldn't happen to know of the title of the song he did for the trailer would you? I'm about to give up looking.

For "Red Planet" or for "Sunshine"? I've got the "Red Planet" soundtrack on my iPod, and I was just doing some wishful Revell thinking with regard to "Sunshine."

The Sunshine trailer song is the main theme for requiem for a dream. Composer for requiem for a dream is Clint Mansell. Theres loads of similar tracks to the one on the trailer. It sounds like the most is 'lux Aeterna' - awesome sound track!

This is what Gia had to say at SunshineDNA.com, xP:
OK. I’ve asked the people who made the UK Sunshine trailer what the music is. This is the final answer. They said:
The track is from Nettwerk Music Group - Requiem for a Tower A remake of the remake of the ‘Lord Of The Rings’ version of ‘Requiem for a Dream’ by Clint Mansell.
There.
So, now…. let’s stop talking about the damned trailer music (which isn’t in the film anyway) and talk about the beautiful images instead, eh?

Hi all, I don't know if it's because it was added to the international trailer recently but no one's mentioned the music at the beginning is in fact the intro to Another Love Song by the band Six By Seven. You can hear it on their l.p. The Closer You Get on Mantra / Beggars Banquet Records.
