This music group is new to me, but I thought it would be great to make a thread about them. I looked on iTunes to hear snippets of their top songs, and I like their style of music. According to iTunes, their genre is Electronic which makes the movie Sunshine sound even cooler. Anyone have a favorite song of theirs? Any comments on this band? I did what you did and listened to a few snippets from iTunes. I'm pretty much in love. Definitely a great band, and very talented.

Now that I listen to more of their songs, do you think Underworld did the music in the Danny Boyle Intro video?? (Listen to the end where you see each character pop up... sounds like electronic music)

Oh, I just love that music in the end of the Intro! ;D I'm considering adding some of that music as a background tune to this forum, but I don't know...it seems like this forum is hard to load up as it is...so much stuff!

The music used on that video was by Digitonal. More info here...

Actually, some of the music was written specifically for the web videos...

Anyone interested in picking up some Underworld for less-than-iTunes prices: check out eMusic.com. They've got pretty much the whole catalogue over there-- and it's perfectly legal, too!
I'm actually a bigger fan of one of Underworld's related/offshoot bands, Shriekback. Any group that can slot the word "parthenogenesis" into a lyric in a song with a BEAT (top THAT one, Decemberists!) is worth a listen!

I first discovered Underworld back in the 90s when Hackers came out. They did a track on the soundtrack called "Cowgirl" and it's excellent listening. Of course, they are also known for "Born Slippy" which was perfect in Trainspotting....

howdy my first post! i'm a huge fan of underworld too - i think this is going to be a great soundtrack when released! anyway, shriekback may be related to underworld somehow but actually precedes underworld - shriekback was formed by one of the early members of XTC in the early 80s. the 'parthenogenesis' song is early 80s and underworld started releasing albums as a rock band (before going techno-ish) in the late 80s... FYI

FYI Yep, you're right-- remember getting Underworld's "Under the Radar" well after Shriekback's "Oil and Gold," where "parthenogenesis"-citing "Nemesis" showed up. Then King Swamp came along and-- oh, well. ("Kiss the Sun" was a heartbreaker, though. And hey: SUN references! Am I sensing a signature line...?) About a dozen different musicians going in different directions, wasn't it--? But it all turned out! (Never mind me: I'm running on no sleep, and I'm buzzed. Been on the phone all morning to the New Ambassadors Theatre in London, where Cillian Murphy's appearing in "Love Song"-- and the manager identified several songs in the production that I simply couldn't place. It had been driving me nuts for weeks. And now: YAY!)
