I've been thinking about this, and I have to say the answer is NO, which is rare in movies these days. I can honestly say I am never bored watching Sunshine. I know some people may have been bored for, maybe, the first 40 mins, but frankly I can't see why...unless you have the attention span of a dead goldfish.
The only movie/s I can say the same about are - don't laugh - the LOTR trilogy (I honestly think they're not long enough).
What do you think?
'Sunshine' is life-affirming. It brings back the wonder and awe in life that is all too often smothered and crushed by the mundane and prosaic. It makes you question, think and feel again as once the world was new. It makes you feel alive, reborn, revived. It touches your very soul and asks it "are you there?" before shocking it back into life. Who needs drugs when you have 'Sunshine'?
Boring times in Sunshine? That is a big NO from me!
But that is right, I read often in reviews that people say the first half of the movie is boring, at the other hand I think they just do not like ScFi or they do not understand the importance of the mission.
The tension in Sunhsine is very subliminal at the beginnig. Maybe that could be interpreted as a lack of action or tension. But there is tension though in a special way.
LOTR trilogy is too short? Yeah the standard version, but do you know the special extended edition of it ? All together are about 12 hours long
Like thehunter said, people who thinks that there are boring times in this movie, probably dosn't like Sci-fi movies or don't understand the meaning of this mission. And ofcourse there can't be action ALL the time in a movie, that would be too boring. Like in some movies there are shooting all the time trough the movie, not good ;P
LOTR, can at moments, have some boring parts. But it's nothing serious =D
Only dream I ever have. Is it the surface of the Sun? - Everytime I shut my eyes, it's always the same.

As someone who saw it twelve times in a row in the theaters (and was excited about it every time...meh, can't believe I actually said that out loud... ), I can say with absolute certainty that "Sunshine" has no boring parts, and it never will be boring, at least to me, anyway... I agree with <redshift>, <TheHunter> and <timpsi> about those who believe in the 'all action all the time' mentality...they obviously don't like science fiction, nor do they understand subtlety...
And as for "The Lord of the Rings" not being long enough...I agree fully! As an obsessive fan of the books, I always believed that there was a lot more they should have added to the movie ('The Scouring of the Shire', anyone?). Also, there are no boring parts here, either...but then, that's just my opinion.
"...Every species can smell its own extinction. The last ones left won't have a pretty time with it. In ten years, maybe less, the Human race will be just a bedtime story for their children. A myth...nothing more..." - John Trent, "In the Mouth of Madness"
"The Sun is going down on this world. It's going down forever..." - Stephen King, "The Dark Tower: The Waste Lands"
Additional, Sunshine is a quite short movie, the act is close-packed. People who know/like the ScFi stuff would never say it is boring, so I agree fully with the idea that people who find Sunshine boring just doesn't like ScFi really.
I can't really label Sunshine as simply "ScFi" because it draws from several different genres, a characteristic of typical Danny Boyle films. Should anyone find Sunshine boring, it could be from their frustration that things go wrong - starting immediately after the fire in the Oxygen Garden. The only lasting positive event afterwards is the end, which ironically results in the loss of our last identifiable protagonist.
"Ah! Zero gravity is cool! G Force on you is like..." "Really? Ah!"
Yeah, actually this genre-mix is the reason why Sunhsine is such an extraodinary movie. Maybe some people just can't stand movies out of the standard system: action, love story, happy end, strong heros, etc.

...Or maybe it could be that those action-lovers just despise and fear any movie that forces them to think...the very idea of exercising their flabby globs of gray matter causes them to shrivel up and ...again, that's just my personal opinion...

I have watched Sunshine many times and I can say, I have never been bored once whilst watching the movie, Danny Boyle did a good job!
