Newbie here I'm a big fan of this movie, having recently discovered it a few weeks ago. It's really grown on me since then [the ending is what did it to me]. I'm glad to have found this forum [and not to mention an amazing site!].

Hello, nice to meet you The ending of Sunshine is just amazing...It's hard to describe this greatness of the sun and being face to face with it and even death.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the ending, Sunshinefan! Some people are unfortunately divided on the subject. I think it was perfect.

I don't mind death in film if it's logical or necessary to the plot. If a landslide of arbitrary errors and randomly poor design leads to wholesale slaughter, then I tend to get upset. And there's nothing particularly ennobling about being burned alive-- even if you ARE Cillian Murphy and you're being made to look like an angel.
Guess that makes me-- yep!-- the evil dissenting voice. Welcome aboard, sunshinefan!

Actually, the ending itself couldn't be better because there was no escape for Capa, and his death gives the movie much more power than a potential surviving. I think this secene in front of the sun made the movie so extraordinary and unconventional for me, I mean the ending is the most important point in a movie. I cannot imagine a better solution of the plot.
That what annoyed people much more was the Pinbacker part, but it think the break in narrative continuity didn't harm the harmony of the movie, far from it!

It's called 'Sunshine Fan' for a reason. And no I'm not one of those who thinks it is perfect, but neither am I one who takes great delight in picking something apart for the fun of it.

And there's nothing particularly ennobling about being burned alive-- even if you ARE Cillian Murphy and you're being made to look like an angel. I dissent from that But apart from that . I think the power of this scene really depends on how much empathy you develop toward Capa's character during the movie. If you feel it, and if you're able to feel like he's been thought to feel in that scene, you realize that's the first time he seems to feel real happiness, in the whole movie. Isn't this powerful? To me a lot .
