I don't think this site would exist if we didn't love the film.

Sunshine surpassed LotR and Star Wars as my favorite movie and made me go back to college (yay astrophysics! XD). Yeah, I'd say I liked the film.

Dr Brian Cox, a physicist who worked on the movie, said that among his colleagues the movie went down very well because for them in captured wonderfully the wonder and awe that they got into science for in the first place, and in their eyes not many movies did that well. That, for me, is Sunshine's best compliment.
Yep I love Sunshine, surely one of 2007's - nay, the decade's - most under-rated movies. Perhaps in 30 years Sunshine will be remembered as fondly as 2001:A Space Odyssey and other "classics".

And I hope that one day I'll have a chance to tell Dr. Brian Cox myself that he was greatly responsible for inspiring me to pursue astrophysics and is my role model for what a real scientist is like.

Never answered this one, did I...?
Love the actors and the music. Like the characters.
But I hate the script. Watching "Sunshine" makes me feel the way I felt the day my mom died. Which is to say, the way I felt when a decent, competent, intelligent person whom I loved died unexpectedly and for no good reason-- that is, because of a mistake, a misdiagnosis, that should never have been made. I would like to say to Alex Garland: "Some of us can feel crushed and destroyed in real life. We don't need writing like yours to do it for us."
Which is not a good way to feel. Trust me.

Thank you, Mikey. Really: that's very kind of you. I have to emphasize that I've taken a good share of positives away from Sunshine. The soundtrack is one of the best I've ever heard. The characters carry depth and potential, which has encouraged me to participate in the board's roleplay and to spin out a few pieces of fic. I've found a number of new faves among the cast. I "signed on" because of Cillian Murphy, but in the past year I've tracked down and enjoyed films featuring Hiroyuki Sanada, Rose Byrne, Michelle Yeoh, Benedict Wong, and Mark Strong-- for whom I've developed an especial affinity (alright, alright: a crush ). And then there's the community here. This is a good board, with good people. Mikey, Brittany, Chero, Massiefan, Hunter-- all of you: you're the best. This is a nice place to be.

Thanks very much But you forgot yourself in this list. That what Sunshine makes so special, so fascinating is hard to describe for me. That is probably the reason why we love it.
