Sunshine is an intensive adventure to the origin of ourselves. Almost everything what we see were made off stardust, is actually stardust. Life exists just because the sun is shining. This movie open our eyes for something that a lot of people never think about: The sun.
I love the movie so much because it concentrates nearly all the things I like: science, space, stars, spaceships and more.

neiru2012 pretty much said it all. But I just LOVE this movie, from the time I watched Sunshine for the first time, I realised how much I wanted to learn of science and space, the universe we live in. This Universe is so big that we can't even imagine it. At the last scenes when Capa stands face to face with the Sun, he experiences something that every scientist want's to do. His work of his life is going to detonate in the sun and giving 6 billions (maybe more at that time) of people a longer life. When he stands infront of the Sun, he knows he is going to die. But he also knows that he has suceeded.
Everytime I see theese last scenes with capa, it makes me want to be in his position for real somehow. Because it's something beautiful you will only experience just some micro seconds before you burn up. But also just the feeling to be inside something that big and powerful as a star is beyond imagining, we can only dream about something like that. If I had a wish, then it would be that I was the guy chosen by NASA to go along with other astronauts to do this mission, and I would be in the same position as Capa in the end and see the smile of sucess in my mouth. And the increadibly fantastic feeling of standing inside the sun.
Tears are droping, and my dreams about traveling to the sun continues.

I SOO very much agree with you, Timpsi and TheHunter!!
(Except for the 6 billion people part... I kinda wish there were a lot less people)

Thank you neiru, I also agree with your 1st post, there are really great thoughts in it How small we are compared to the sun, and how small is the sun compared with the whole universe?! For us the sun is the real meanig of life, but in universe there are a lot of times bigger stars than the sun, and just in our galaxy, the milky way, there are about 100-200 billion stars! Just in our eyes the sun is so impressive, actually stars are absolut common things in space. That even shows how small we are.

Thanks Neiru =D
Thehunter: Yes that's true. We think our "sun" is the greatest thing we've ever seen, well in a way it is, it's the most important thing for life to us. But infact our sun is just another of the uncountable ammount of stars in space, and is nothing unusual. We are just a little spot on the expanding map that never ends. For example traveling to the sun would take a long time. But thats just to our nearest star, we can't travel to the 2nd nearest because its that far away no human can live that long. It's unbeliveable. But I guess that's just the way it is.
And I will say it once again, I just love this movie.

The movie was about life and our place in existence. Its not so much about science as it is philosophy. The great realization that man can not overcome nature. Furthermore, what is the impact of that realization? Does this mean we should give up? Does this mean we should eternally strive to defeat it? I think in the end it is about realizing that there are things greater than ourselves and the true key to life is to be able to accept that. Its just the same as a man pondering death.....the greatest thing we can learn from it is to live....and that is all we can do. And yes the life of an ant sounds bleak but if an ant can truly accept his role and be happy with it, surely his life will be far better than that of one who constantly attempts to defeat what can not be defeated.
I think that was the greatest accomplishment of the movie is that they showed both sides of the philosophical debate...and rather than giving an answer or preaching, they instead asked the audience a question. They built the two opposing sides and let them battle it out.....one being Capa, who believes in the strength of man's ingenuity....the other being Pinbacker who has understood his ant-like role but can not mentally accept it.
