I've just won a Michelle-related thing and I only bid on it for 2 reasons 1) the person who had the top bid looked like 'a professional' 2) it was pretty cheap... I just wanted to save it from a professional props shop!

I like to think the "pros" ruin it for the rest of us poor folk.

I know... I'd much prefer it if actual *fans* got things... Well, I do know several of them *have* got things, but some of those prices have been crazy *ahem*Kali*ahem*

Why eBay is usually a "no-fly zone" in the House of 'Ski....

'cause, frankly, I'm a nasty, vicious, backstabbing eBay itchbay-- *raises hand* Can I join eB*tches Anonymous? For those eBayers with nastier (whether intentional or not) tactics. T^TBut I will say that what I won will never leave my head... Though it wasn't from these auctions.

Here's to resurrecting dying threads...!
Waiting on the last of my items. The Propstore of London had "issues" with two of my lots-- it ends up they shipped me more than I deserved, and, provoked by an ill-advised attack of honesty, I'm helping them straighten things out-- but once Lot the Final (a.k.a. the [Semi-]Big One) gets here (or not: something itchy in the back of my head is worrying that I'm not the only one in this wide, wide auction world who received more than she had coming [though that statement itself is open to (snide) interpretation] or at least more than that for which she paid), the bragging will commence list of silly indulgences will appear. Uh, yay, right...?

*stares at that post* "Lot the Final". Somehow, I think I just fell in love with you. I had to read that thrice to make sense of everything, but that's what makes it so awesome. Three levels of bracketing! *faints*

Okaaaaay.... and away my money went.... Here's what I won (please note the SPOILER tags at the last item): 1. Cassie's book, Lady Chatterley's Lover2 and 3. Two (2) longsleeved Icarus II tops, one with crew patch at waist, one with crew patch at chest 4. Prop lots: a. Trey (including tags, walkie-talkie, and Timex Ironman watch) b. Cassie (including tags, Spitfire silver charm necklace, and Oris BC Pointer Date women's watch) c. Capa (including tags, scene-used wristbands, and Oris BC3 7511 men's watch) 5. Capa's "sweaty" t-shirt *and* 6. Capa's costume (a.k.a. "Capa's bloody costume," tagged as used in the film's final scene) [glow=red,2,300]OUCH.[/glow] Why, oh why, did I do it...? Simple and bizarre: All my other favorite actors and actresses are long dead, all their props and effects either long-ago destroyed or long-ago collected. This time, I wasn't looking at the lovely black-face Gruen watch Conrad Veidt is wearing in "Casablanca" and thinking, Man, I'd love to have that. I was looking at the Oris Cillian Murphy is wearing in "Sunshine" and thinking, I can have that. And now I do. And the band fits, too. Heh!

The fun thing is-- on the vest from Capa's costume there's a customized manufacturing tag, which reads in part and as paraphrased (I'm working from memory here, and part of the tag has been thoroughly "dirtied up"): ICARUS II MODEL IV COUNTER PRESSURE VESTI love details like that. The other shirts either bear their normal manufacturing tags or are tag-free; the vest, in contrast, was built from scratch. (Another funny thing about it: the belt, which is pretty obviously a former airline seatbelt!) The tag also implies that the vest serves an actual purpose: it seems to be like the heavy shirts knights would wear under full armor to ward off bruising. (However, we don't want to get me started on the Icarus spacesuits.... Okay, okay, just one little start: What-- you people in the very near future have never heard of THINSULATE?!? GO 3M!!!) Right, right, right... back to work!
