Sunshine may be an independent film, but it still should be promoted beyond cyberland. I have yet to see a trailer in the cinemas yet!! The last I've heard was that the trailer was being shown on some small film and a documentary. My sci-fi freakish uncle is pestering me continuously about Sunshine's marketing. When will I see a trailer? It's coming out next week now? Did it even do well everywhere else? SIGH. It seems like the only promotion going on for Sunshine is online. That's not always where the audience looks...

Yeah, I tend to find that the internet is always the best place to look for movie info/trailers...they showed the Sunshine teaser like three times in a month on the tv here in Oz...lucky I caught the first one!
They did have an article on it in the paper though, and it got good reviews. Although I'm pretty sure the article was mostly about Rose, because she's Australian, and so everyone Down Under wanted to brag about what a homegrown star she is.
btw, I see you changed your sig, chero... *lolz*

Brilliant use of smileys. I really should try to use them.

I suppose that the trailers will be published on television soon for the promotion of the 27th wide release. I guess the 20th limited release dwindles on the last minute Internet promotions (whichever people chose to see).
On another note, the term "theatrical trailer" is such a tease here in America. It's much too late to see one now, in my opinion.

So, basically, Sunshine is screwed in America in terms of box office success?

We'll see, nimue. There's still hope with all of the promotional screenings and the July 20th limited release. We have a chance for a huge buzz on the film before the 27th (on and beyond the Internet). *crosses fingers*

At least it's been getting relatively good reviews right?

Well when I looked around online yesterday for showtimes I could barely find any. Funny thing about it being big-time(ish) everywhere but the US: I live in Orange County, CA and one of the big theaters around here is the Irvine Spectrum, but it wasn't even playing there! Luckily for me it was playing at the theater I normally go to, Aliso Viejo. Which is rather smaller than Spectrum, but doesn't usually play indies (or those promoted or billed as such). This probably makes little sense to everyone here. ^^;;

I've only found Sunshine showtimes at fancy Muvicos over here. The showtimes are a joke though since they receive about 5 showings on average at each venue.

Sunshine is not playing in any cinemas near me. Unless I drive an hour and a half.

I feel your pain IIC, the closet theater playing Sunshine near me is a 40 minute drive.

It was a 40 mile drive for me also... and I have made it twice.
