Hey there. I'm not really good with introductions because I tend to ramble on and on and on, but... My name is TheLovecraftFactor (my SN should tell you right away who my favorite author is, so I'll just end it there), and like everyone else here, I'm quite obsessed with Sunshine (just saw it this past Saturday for the 6th, 7th, and 8th time -- yes, I know: three times in one day, one after the other...what can I possibly say? ). I'm also a fan of deviantArt, and like to browse them every once in a while. In fact, it was thanks to dA that I discovered this movie...although at this time, I can't remember the exact picture that caused me to learn more about it...I'll figure it out eventually... ...At the moment, I can't think of anything else to say (except that I hope I wasn't rambling...). Well, anyway, it's good to meet you all.

I find it kind of funny. I find it kind of sad. The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had. I find it hard to tell you. I find it hard to take. With people running circles it's a very very..... mad world..... Welcome lovecraft. Hey you don't ramble

If you love Sunshine, you will be happy here. I'm sure you know that already.

You are one quick thinker in 'The Movie Quote Game.' Do you draw any fanart?

<chero>: Thanks. And, unfortunately, I don't. I couldn't draw even if my life depended on it...although I often wish that I could, especially if a great image pops up in my head (which is quite often). :*0

It's okay, lovecraft! The mental image is often the better of the two. Your screenname is interesting. Do you make crafts or am I just being silly?

<chero>: No, you're not being silly at all. The name 'Lovecraft' is horror novelist H. P. Lovecraft. He was a writer in the vein of Edgar Allen Poe. And as for my SN (the full explanation would be better suited on a different thread), let's just say that it reflects my personal opinion about one of Sunshine's characters.

You should make the new thread! I'm interested to know!

<brittany>: The thread I'm referring to is pre-existing...sorry I didn't fully elaborate on that. Anyway, I intended to post my idea there, but for some reason, although I have it thought out in my head, trying to physically write it down is an entirely different thing...I guess my idea is that complicated... ... Anyhoo, I hope to have it down eventually...if I can ever get my stupid thoughts together... ...uh-oh, rambling again...better stop now...

<chero>: No, you're not being silly at all. The name 'Lovecraft' is horror novelist H. P. Lovecraft. He was a writer in the vein of Edgar Allen Poe. Lovecraft actually wrote one of the best science-fiction stories for its time, "In the Walls of Eryx". If you haven't read that story, seek it out at all costs! Lovecraft wasn't just a horror novelist...he was THE horror novelist. Glad to see another fan of HPL on this board. He was an amazing genius.

<bunkergate7>: Wow, and I thought I was the only one... I actually agree with you on 'In the Walls of Eryx'. That was a good story. For me personally, I think his best stories were: 'The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath' 'The Lurker at the Threshold' 'Celephais' 'The Colour out of Space' 'The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward' 'Cool Air'...and others I can't quite remember right now... And, you're absolutely right. Lovecraft is THE horror novelist.

'The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath' 'The Lurker at the Threshold' 'Celephais' 'The Colour out of Space' 'The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward' 'Cool Air' You get a Light Year for your story choices...all good. I'd personally add to that list "The Cats of Ulthar", "Dreams in the Witch-House", "The Dunwich Horror", and "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". All hail HPL!

<nimue>: Actually, I do. I'm under the SN ValenHeartForever (way back when I was really into Final Fantasy VII), although I haven't drawn anything yet. It's only very recently that I've just begun attempting to do some drawings of my other major interest: Pokemon.
<bunkergate7>: 'The Cats of Ulthar'...how could I have possibly forgotten that one?! I love that story! I showed that one to my sis, who's not a reader, and she loved it, probably because she likes cats...

let's just say that it reflects my personal opinion about one of Sunshine's characters. Well, I definitely see the "Lovecraft Factor" in Capa and Pinbacker. Capa is a Lovecraft figure -- he has disturbing dreams of his own demise (Capa: falls screaming into the sun...Lovecraft: dreams of odd beings devouring his insides, and dies of intestinal cancer in 1937). Capa also reveres science, and is an atheist -- just like H.P. Lovecraft. Pinbacker represents mankinds inability to deal with inscrutable cosmic forces (in this case, the sun). As many of Lovecraft's characters "flip out" when faced with the mysteries of the universe, so does Pinbacker. This is just my take on the "Lovecraft Factor"...such as it is. I'm probably way off base, though.
