Oh, that's good! How's the promotion of the movie in your place? Nimue: There has been NO promotion at all. Not even on TV. A bunch of us are going to try to see the pre-screening...I'm taking my dad with me (he's a sci-fi fan, 2001 is his favorite movie) instead of my wife (this isn't her kind of SF movie). I'm just hoping it's for real and my buddy wasn't joking. Apparently the pre-screening info for my town is showing up on the Fox Searchlight site. Seeing this movie has become my latest obsession!!! Must...see...Rose Byrne...in all...her...glory.... ;D

Yeah, Hadley's Hope and America are being stripped of any Sunshine promotions on TV, in the theater, etc. It's really depressing, but hopefully we'll see improvement next week when the 27th approaches. <-- At least someone is still smiling.

Oh man! Don't they hire anyone for promotions for this?

I missed the sneak-preview last week due to medical reasons (I damaged the cornea in my right eye).
Nevertheless, I saw Sunshine tonight.
It was breathtaking and heartbreaking. I'm at a loss for words. I will be seeing it again tomorrow. I can't get the final images with Capa and the payload separation out of my mind. The score was incredible (though I thought the end credit music didn't belong AT ALL).
I think it's safe to say that, so far, Sunshine's the best science fiction film of the 21st Century.

Woohoo! Thank you! You get an LY just for thinking that! Here's an LY for you for your generosity. I just ordered my tickets online to see it again tonight at a different theater. I think I'll do a "Sunshine Tour" this week and see it in all of the area cinemas... ;D At any rate, I can now begin to watch for the details since I know the basic plot... In all seriousness, though, that is one amazing movie. Cassie's still the best! BG7

Yeah, I think Cassie is an easy favorite. Her eyes tell more than what she actually says. Brilliant.

Thanks, bg7! Yeah, Cassie's just adorable! But Capa's still my pick. I love that skinny sexy enigmatic physicist!

Searle 5. Kaneda I have a better appreciation for Searle and Mace after watching the film twice. Now, should I go see Sunshine again tonight, or take a break? Input welcome... ;D

In total, I've seen the film four times. That still doesn't seem enough, but then again words like "nerd" and "addiction" come into play.

In total, I've seen the film four times. That still doesn't seem enough, but then again words like "nerd" and "addiction" come into play. I'm definitely addicted to this movie as well. I saw it for the third time last night. It just gets better every time. [rant] Unfortunately, it's getting muscled out of our area theaters today to make room for mainstream, big dollar crap (as usual). It astounds me that such a great film would only play for ONE WEEK anywhere. They did the same thing with Letters From Iwo Jima (one of the best war films EVER made) down here, too. In my three viewings of Sunshine, there were no more than five others in the theater each time. A few of them complained that it "sucked" on the way out of the theater. I heard the same grumbling when I saw Solaris six times on the big screen. In all instances, I thought "ya just don't get it, do ya?" Those insipid dolts should be on their knees thanking Danny Boyle (and all involved in this cinematic milestone) for allowing them to -- pardon the pun -- bask in Sunshine for and hour and 48 minutes!!!!! Just a note if anyone's reading...
Last night was the final showing of Sunshine ANYWHERE near my home. It was my sixth time out to see it. It's been knocked out of the theaters, as I figured it would be, by big-budget garbage that I could care less about.
I cried when the scene where Capa fell down in the spacesuit and got back up. I hardly ever cry while watching a movie. EVER. I still feel the emotion today. I was overcome. The John Murphy soundtrack cue ascending triumphantly was so beautiful; the images were so sublime; the determination of Capa to "finish" was so palpable...I felt so much sorrow for everyone on Icarus II...and I was saddened because I knew I wouldn't be able to experience those wonderful moments again for a long time...
Sunshine is a very, very special movie. It has moved me in ways I never thought a film could. I don't think I've ever seen any SF film like it, and it is soundly in my top ten favorites of all time. Period. As I can with Alien and 2001, I feel as though I could watch Sunshine a thousand times and find something new and exciting -- and never grow tired of the experience.
Now, to await the DVD and the soundtrack...
