Sorry: I don't get it. Someone asked my impression of the trailer: my impression was one of sadness and dread. I had a similar feeling when I saw the trailer for "28 Days Later" on the big screen: visceral fear and despair. As a result, I never saw 28DL in a theatre; I thought, "Do I need to see a movie based on a trailer that says, 'We're here to take you DOWN'--?"-- and the answer, for three years, was "No." The trailer for "Sunshine" says to me: "They're all gonna die." That's my impression. Sorry if that's not what the marketing people intended; that's just what I got out of it. By the by, the only things really wrong with "Armageddon" were the crap with the animal crackers and the fact that crazy Steve Buscemi didn't get to ride the nuke.

I keep trying to mentally prepare myself for all of them to die. It sounds so stupid, but I feel like I'm actually getting to know these people. Gah.
For the record, when Armageddon came out in 1998 I was like eleven years old and I was thoroughly scandalized by the animal cracker part.

Hmmmm... let me think of how to elaborate...
I guess I'm trying to say that I think the characters in 'Sunshine' are written as more realistic than characters in Hollywood 'save-the-world-while-the-music-swells' blockbusters.
Let's take Capa. Someone who is one of the top physicists in the world is going to be a self-centred bastard (and, remember, I'm married to one!) who really doesn't *care* about humanity; Science is the important thing... not sacrificing oneself so that the rest of us can live.
I think, in reality, if you start thinking about 'mankind' and 'should they be saved' too much... then all kinds of bad things can happen.

Probably why they wouldn't want me in charge of the mission-- and why I can't help thinking of "Children of Men" (and anyone who's been reading my pop-feminism rants about Cassie's name can guess what I think of that title!) as anything other than a laugh riot.
"Mankind [humanity--?!?] faces extinction."-- yeah, I'm sorry: I get the wicked snickers and a bad case of "And your problem is...?" every time I hear that line.
BUT-- the plants! And the animals! Not that we'll have anything too much in the way of "extraneous" flora 'n' fauna fifty years or so from now. If we can't wear it or eat it-- YOU'RE OUTTA HERE, BAMBI!

I went to see Smokin' Aces today and I was so excited (mostly because of the Sunshine trailer). I even brought two of my friends with me and got them all hyped up for it (they don't know anything about this movie other than my obsessive ramblings), and we NEVER saw it! I was SO bummed!! I'm not so sure if I want to return to that Regal Cinema now...

Aww, chero, maybe you should call ahead to the next movie you see, 'cos it's not necessarily in all those aforementioned movies. Yes I know that's pretty dorky. ;D Those movie theaters are always out to get you--I mean, look at those prices.

Okay, I've seen some mentions of the release date being changed, does anyone know anything about it? The US one, that is. Still so hoping it's not changed, but what with the random craziness and secrecy......

Gia at sunshinedna has said its to be changed, then I'm certain it will be.
I'm sure she'll let us know when she knows. I think she's feeling pretty beat up right. None of this is her fault - but she gets the nasty job of being the messenger!
At this point, I'd rather not have any speculation and be disappointed AGAIN. :*0
I think lots of us feel that way.

I do know the US release date, but Andrew Macdonald (producer) told me that I shouldn't be the one to announce it. I am letting the people in charge of Searchlight's American publicity do that.
Of course, once they do then I will be happy to talk about it.

Can you tell us how disappointed we'll be, on a scale from 1-10. I just want to prepare myself... Also, Gia, I don't know if you can talk about this (probably not), but do you have any idea why they decided to change it? Bah, I guess we can just ask you once it's announced...sorry for rambling.

Just a thought, maybe FS-US is possibly leaning towards "Summer Blockbuster" because of the excellent pre-screening reviews, which, sadly, tacks on another couple of months (or more) right there and sucks big time. If this happens I might just die. :*0

...I just really wouldn't understand that at all. I mean, I'm not pretending to understand anything, really, but honestly... summer blockbuster? Why? WHY?
I'm not sure that's what it is, though. I don't even know. I can't even comprehend any of it.

If the "Recent Transmission" is anything to go by, this will be a movie that never gets released. And you know what? If no other release date has been changed (this is just me assuming, btw) and the rest of the world is set for April, how the hell is it that the US gets a "Fall" speculation? (I'm sorry. I freaked out when I noticed that. Overly obsessed, I most certainly am. ) I really hope that he was just throwing some random thing out there...Nobody shoot me for getting worked up...

Perhaps the powers-that-be at Fuchs (somehow the German word seems appropriate now-- swap one tallish letter and see if you see what I mean) realized that they must keep the US release slate clear for intelligent, quality franchise fare such as "Alien versus Predator 2." But I'm still waiting for the "worldwide ripple effect," too. Grrrrr....

Back when Sunshine was opening in the US before the UK, I was happy yet suspicious. Why would a British film not premiere in the country it was made in first? So, I accepted the "Spring 2007" change. Now that the date is slated for "Fall 2007", I'm really unhappy. If "Dark Days Are Coming" is a slogan for the film, then America will be dark for a very long time.
